Abstract

This paper examines the challenges of achieving high IELTS Speaking scores, particularly due to preparation constraints and subjectivity in assessment. It contrasts speaking features of high and low scorers across four key areas: fluency and coherence, lexical resource, grammatical range and accuracy, and pronunciation. The study offers strategies for improvement, focusing on topic development, vocabulary, and grammar, aiming to enhance candidates’ performance.
