With the advent of the information age, profound changes have taken place in education. As an important part of higher education, college English teaching is also continually exploring innovative teaching methods to improve teaching quality. Task-based language teaching, with its unique teaching philosophy and practice, emphasizes the use of language for meaningful communication during task completion, which is in line with the goal of cultivating students’ comprehensive English language skills. This paper first examines the basic characteristics of task-based language teaching and its application value in college English teaching, and then discusses the specific application strategies of task-based language teaching in college English teaching practice in the information age, to provide a useful reference for the reform and innovation of college English Teaching in the new era.
