With the deepening integration of the “ideological and political courses” concept in higher education in China, incorporating ideological and political elements into the teaching of university English in vocational universities has become an important means of enhancing educational quality. This study aims to explore the current status, existing problems, and enhancement pathways of ideological and political teaching abilities of university English teachers in these institutions. The research shows that a systematic enhancement pathway significantly boosts teachers’ abilities in ideological and political education, providing theoretical support and practical guidance for the effective implementation of such education in vocational universities.
