Abstract
Voluntary service in modern sense was developed in China at the end of 19th century. Research in this field under volunteerism flourished along with the development of voluntary service. By probing into the history of volunteerism in China, we can fully understand its development status in the society and find angles to analyze new problems and issues derived in its growth, so that we can come up with advices on how to promote and cultivate volunteerism and voluntary culture in the country.
