Research Methods and Narrative Methods for the Construction of the Political Economy of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics

Abstract

This paper aims to explore the logical path and methodology for constructing the system of the political economy of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The research object of the political economy of socialism with Chinese characteristics should have a profound historical perspective, covering economic laws and policy logics from ancient times to the present, especially providing a theoretical interpretation of the internal connection between the political gene of “great unification” and the contemporary governing idea of the Party exercising leadership over all work. Drawing on the principle of the unity of “research method” and “narrative method” in Marx’s Das Kapital, this paper advocates adhering to dialectical materialism and historical materialism, starting from the core category of labor, and scientifically constructing a theoretical framework covering labor, land, capital, the state and global governance according to their positions in social structure rather than historical sequence. The paper emphasizes that the construction of the theoretical system should achieve the unity of research logic and realistic movement, enhance the academic height by strengthening theoretical abstraction, and provide Chinese wisdom for building a community with a shared future for mankind.
