Abstract

Premature ovarian failure (POF) is a prevalent yet challenging condition in gynecology. Its incidence rate has been steadily rising in recent years and is trending among younger age groups. The premature failure of ovarian function, which poses a serious threat to women’s physical and mental health, has emerged as a topic of concern in current research. At present, it is believed that the causes of premature ovarian failure are multifaceted, and its pathogenesis is complex, some of which are still not well-understood. Therefore, this article discusses the research progress of the pathogenesis of premature ovarian failure caused by mitochondrial dysfunction and serves as a reference for the prevention and further research of this condition from the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine treatment.
