Abstract

Nurses working in intensive care units face highly stressful working conditions, critically ill patients and persistent emotional engagement, rendering them a high-risk group for occupational burnout. Occupational burnout not only seriously damages nurses’ physical and mental health and reduces job satisfaction and retention rate, but also poses a significant threat to nursing quality and medical safety of patients. This paper reviews the concept, epidemiological status and influencing factors of occupational burnout among ICU nurses, so as to provide references for optimizing ICU nurse management, improving nursing quality and safeguarding the occupational health of ICU nurses.
