Special Issue on Contemporary Social and Cultural Impacts of Chinese Vernacular Architecture and Urban Design

Special issue title: Contemporary Social and Cultural Impacts of Chinese Vernacular Architecture and Urban Design

Background: The Chinese is one of those ancient cultures deeply rooted on valuable knowledge, sensibility, traditions, disclosures, fragrances and so on, which have been refining for millenniums. This heritage not only communicate their people’s spirit, but their authentic voyage through life. Architecture has been distinguished for, among other qualifications, being the trustworthy witness of history. It exists as the result of civilizations momentary image, but it remains for generations afterward to provide a live presence of the past. It is cleverly said that it is like frozen music. This special issue of Journal of Architectural Research and Development is an excellent opportunity to show the world examples of the enormous fruitfulness of this nation through architectural instances and narratives. It intends to compile all those valuable legacies, spread it as much as possible, and pass it to the future architects as a priceless global contribution for the generations to come.
