Abstract

Objective: To explore the effect of fiberoptic bronchoscopy combined with alveolar lavage in the treatment of severe lung infection after gastric cancer surgery. Methods: 60 patients with severe lung infection after gastric cancer surgery who were admitted into The First Hospital of Nanping from January 2020 to June 2023 were selected as study subjects. The patients were randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional treatment methods, and the experimental group was treated with fiberoptic bronchoscopy combined with alveolar lavage. The clinical efficacy of the treatment and the blood gas index levels (PaO2, PaCO2, SpO2) and serum inflammatory factor levels (CRP, IL-6, IL-8) of the two groups were evaluated. Results: The treatment received in the experimental group was more effective than that of the control group (P < 0.01). Besides, the PaO2 and SpO2 of the patients in the experimental group were higher than those of the control group after treatment; the PaCO2 of the experimental group was lower than that of the control group; and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.01). Both groups showed a significant decrease in CRP, IL-6, and IL-8 levels after the treatment (P < 0.01). Conclusion: Fiberoptic bronchoscopy combined with alveolar lavage is effective in treating severe lung infection after gastric cancer surgery, so it should be popularized in clinical practice.
